OVERVIEW

As the Inspector, the successful candidate will join Elexicon Energy’s Engineering Team and will play a key role in our day-to-day operations, projects and initiatives that will support our vision of empowering the communities we serve and help customers seize opportunities to ignite a better future. This position initially reports to the Supervisor Engineering at the Ajax location and is responsible for the daily activities as follows: 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Inspect distribution system asset installations and modifications of 44kV and below for conformance to drawings and specifications.
  • Review project details and contract specifications to ensure contractors have full understanding of scope of work and Elexicon Energy expectations.
  • Interact with contractors to ensure schedules are being met, advising of important timelines for construction.
  • Record and finalize all changes approved by the Engineering department and on As-Built Drawings.
  • Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports of construction activity, including major activities and progress.
  • Coordinate and communicate with staff to ensure projects are on track, providing regular updates and information from the field.
  • Ensure approved materials are used on site.
  • Interact with Field Staff, Control Room, Stores, Connections and Engineering.
  • Verification of energized field equipment condition and nomenclature.
  • Attend site meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include fault locating, cable splicing and terminations. 

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution, utility related construction practices, standards and associated materials.
  • Basic programming knowledge / working knowledge of databases.
  • Proficient with G-technology, Geomedia, ESRI, GIS, Oracle and AutoCAD related software.
  • Ability to work with blueprints, sketches, technical manuals, specifications and reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, etc.).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • Successful completion of Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyperson Lineperson / Powerline Technician Certification
  • 3 to 5 years relevant work experience
