Metering Technician

 

Ottawa River Power Corporation, a local electricity distribution company serving 10,000 customers in Almonte, Pembroke, Beachburg and Killaloe is seeking application for the position of Metering Technician. 

Under the direction of the Customer Service Supervisor, the Metering Technician will: 

  • Install, maintain, remove, replace and trouble shoot single phase and polyphase meters for residential and commercial customers
  • Install load monitoring equipment and perform analysis and reporting 
  • Perform cross-phase analysis and troubleshooting of transformer rated metering installations
  • Manage and maintain the data integrity of various data bases for meters within the MAS (Elster Energy Assess), MDMR (IESO Meter Data Management/Repository), ODS (Northstar Metersense) and CIS (Northstar Customer Information System)
  • Monitor and troubleshoot, on a daily basis, the Elster Meter Acquisition System (Smart Metering) to meet billing timelines
  • Carry out the Measurement Canada requirements for the utility
  • Liaise with customers regarding service requirements and billing issues
  • Liaise with other departments regarding metering or related issues
  • Create and maintain meter standards
  • Follow corporate safety policies

Perform other related duties as assigned 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience: 

  • Post-secondary education in electronics, electrical or computer data
  • Knowledge of electrical theories and applications
  • Have completed or successfully complete a certified Meter Technician Program
  • Metering experience would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of computer applications
  • Energetic and enthusiastic team player and committed to success of organization
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
