ABOUT THIS ROLE

Burlington Hydro Inc. is currently seeking a Locate Clerk to join our Engineering team.  Reporting to the Engineering Senior Manager, you will work with the team and our clients to coordinate underground cable locates for the city of Burlington. You will also work with external and internal inquiries from customers, contractors and utilities. This is a unionized position.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate, schedule and maintain underground cable locates
  • Respond to contractors, residential customers, builders and other utilities inquiries’ regarding locates and problems that may arise. Transfer inquiries to the appropriate department where required
  • Perform administrative/clerical duties for the Operations department
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative/clerical duties upon request
  • Reconcile and identify invoice discrepancies, make necessary revisions and attach proof
  • Retrieve and input data; summarize and submit engineering statistics report for underground cable locates
  • Maintain Restoration and Pole Transfer list
  • Administration of Distributed Generation services
  • Administration of Municipal Consents Applications
  • Process billable work orders initiated by Construction Department (accidents)
  • Set up A/R accounts for billable projects generated by the Engineering Services Technicians
  • Perform, coordinate and maintain electronic filing of Engineering documents
  • Scheduling vault access
  • Act as a backup to the Engineering Clerk during absence(s) or when they are performing other tasks
  • All other duties as assigned 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office applications – Word and Excel 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills including reading comprehension, with the ability to communicate clearly
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills; a good work ethic with a positive approach to work and co-workers; energetic and motivated with an excellent attendance record
  • Demonstrated interest in process improvements
  • Able to work independently
