ABOUT THIS ROLE

Burlington Hydro Inc. is currently seeking a Project Manager (PM) on a temporary basis (18 months) to support the implementation of internal departmental and company-wide initiatives. Given the breadth of projects, this position has dual reporting to the Project Sponsors (Executive Vice-President, Corporate and the Vice-President & CFO) and is responsible for the full-cycle project management of diverse initiatives including customer/billing/operations system implementations, an ERP upgrade, Green Button, and digitization of records to name a few. This is an on-site position. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply project management techniques and methodologies to ensure projects are planned and executed within scope/time/budget and stakeholder expectations 
  • Drive execution and demonstrate end-to-end ownership of complex, cross-group and cross-discipline projects to successful completion
  • Lead project teams in defining and documenting clear and attainable project objectives and conduct the coordination of scheduling, planning, etc.
  • Track project milestones, achievements, risks, and resources and ensure proper documentation and records (plan, budget, reports, contracts, schedules, etc.)
  • Prepare, publish, and maintain detailed project documentation including but not limited to project charter, project plan, progress reports, milestone reports, close out reports, scheduling, etc.
  • Monitor adherence to project schedules; track and report on project progress, including providing forecasts of final delivery timeline
  • Develop, edit, and review a variety of communications, presentations, process flows, reports, and other project materials
  • Provide financial management (budget, tracking, reporting, resource estimates) for projects in support of key leaders accountable for project execution and deliverables
  • Identify inter-dependencies among work stream activities and lead the project team on risks prioritization and mitigation
  • Facilitate effective meetings with functional teams, stakeholder engagement, and support change management efforts
  • Proactively communicate status, project health, and any potential flags to management/project owners
  • Strong influencer with the ability to communicate with and influence stakeholders
  • Facilitate working sessions with internal and external stakeholders across all levels
  • Liaise and coordinate activities with department managers as needed
  • All other duties as assigned 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Requires thorough knowledge of project management methodology and understanding of customer service, business processes and acumen, reporting, financial concepts, business planning, and budget 
  • administration
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience in full-cycle project management
  • Experience with systems implementations is considered an asset
  • Prior industry experience is considered an asset
  • Post-secondary education preferably in business management, finance, or related degree
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively complete tasks while meeting timelines
  • Agile and growth mindset with ability to manage multiple priorities and deal with ambiguity
  • Strong interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence teams to a successful outcome
  • Ability to assess and manage risk and issues
  • Project Management Certification considered an asset but not required
  • Proficient in MS Office application

  • Able to multi-task and prioritize work effectively, organized and critical thinker with the ability to identify issues and resolve problems
  • Self-starter, willing to learn, adapt to new technologies, flexible when situations change
