Senior Financial Analyst

Major Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts and five-year financial plans for GrandBridge Energy and its affiliate companies.
  • Collaborate with assigned business units as a financial business partner, delivering monthly departmental reporting and analysis in support of achieving financial and operational objectives.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis on operating and capital expenditures and provide detailed explanations that support the monthly Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A).
  • Analyze overhead/burden rates for labour, vehicle and material charges and calculate management fees for shared services across affiliate companies.
  • Calculate and analyze unbilled revenues and regulatory deferral account balances in accordance with Ontario Energy Board guidelines.
  • Create detailed monthly variance analysis on distribution revenue, electricity sales, and electricity purchases attributing variances to consumption, rate, and customer count differences by rate class.
  • Prepare and provide analytical support to monthly revenue reporting and commentary that provides a comprehensive summary of performance and reconciles net movements in deferral and variance accounts.
  • Support annual rate applications and record keeping requirements with the Ontario Energy Board by preparing financial models, load forecasts, and distribution system plans.
  • Develop financial models, analysis, and industry benchmarking in support of business development opportunities for GrandBridge Energy and its affiliate companies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial planning and revenue accounting processes, leveraging technology to streamline operations, increase efficiency and improve internal controls.
  • Support management with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required. 

Qualifications 

A minimum of five years of experience in a finance or regulatory role, and a professional accounting designation is required.  A sound working knowledge of utility accounting and regulatory issues is an asset. The successful candidate will have strong strategic, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of management. With solid business analysis and planning experience, the candidate is able to manage multiple project and exercise good judgement in prioritizing tasks. Proficient use in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required.
