METER DATA MANAGEMENT ANALYST

The opportunity

The Meter Data Management team plays a crucial role in ensuring the electricity market runs smoothly, processing wholesale metering data collected daily from approximately 4400 meters across Ontario. As a member of this essential team, the Meter Data Management Analyst will review and analyze data for customer billing, investigate anomalies and meter trouble reports, and collaborate in the development and maintenance of the metering registry and metering database. This role is a perfect fit for individuals with an analytical mindset, team-oriented working style, and sound knowledge of electrical theory.


What you’ll do

  • As part of a team, manage the meter data management processes related to maintaining the metering database and support the metering registry to produce settlement-ready delivery point data
    • Process metering data and execute the data validation, estimation and edit process. Review and analyze exception reports.
    • Issue meter trouble reports and liaise with external Metering Service Providers to investigate and resolve issues.
    • Review and approve components of Emergency Instrument Transformer Restoration Plans at time of meter registration and the onset of the failure.
    • Manage Meter Registration activities by interfacing directly with Metering Service Providers in the field.
    • Monitor Metering Service Provider performance measures to confirm compliance with market rules, policies and procedures.
    • Monitor processes to ensure settlement calendar timelines are met.
  • Provide technical and analytical support and training to both internal and external customers as related to meter data management accountabilities.
  • Review notice of disagreements and disputes, investigate and analyze measurement data. Provide explanations and support to Market Settlements team for use in settlement decision making.
  • Collect, monitor and maintain measurement data from various interconnections and ensure successful meter replacements at the interties. Contribute to the development and delivery of training packages relating to work methods, technology, techniques, and the policies, practices, and procedures relating to the established market rules.

What you need to succeed

  • Completion of a 4-year university program or college diploma in engineering or engineering technology
  • Knowledge of electrical theory & principles, power systems & distribution, mathematics, concepts of electrical metering, data processing, and statistics
  • Ability to carry out analytical calculations in order to analyze and synthesize data.
  • Ability to read and interpret single line diagrams and voltage readings to conduct analyses, assess proposed methods for restoration, and determine the best approach for reconciling data.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including experience in communicating with internal and external parties on technical matters
  • Familiarity and a good understanding of the electrical utility industry, meter data management and metering systems Experience/familiarity with statistical and database software, data processing/manipulating
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Proven excellent customer service skills.

 

A period of a minimum of 4 to 6 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.

The IESO offers a hybrid work model program to most of our employees, based on business needs. Individuals participating in the program can work an average of three days per week remotely within Ontario. It also offers three flex weeks when individuals can work remotely within Ontario. When working in the office, you will be located at our Mississauga location.
