Established 35+ years ago, the MEARIE Group is a diverse organization that represents the entities of the Municipal Electric Association Reciprocal Insurance Exchange (MEARIE), MEARIE Management Inc., (MMI) and MEARIE Insurance Services Inc., (MISI), which collectively, provide an array of financial, insurance and risk solutions to Ontario’s energy and affiliated sectors. MEARIE offers a full range of commercial property/casualty insurance and risk-based services. MMI provides a comprehensive array of products/services that support Members in managing human capital risk. Key programs include group employee benefits, training, talent, recruitment, actuarial valuation, industrial relations, compensation benchmarking services, and more.

MEARIE is founded upon a contractual agreement, signed by all Members, through which common risks are shared or exchanged. In accordance with the MEARIE/MMI Management Services Agreement (MSA), MMI has assumed the manager role of MEARIE operations.

Reporting to the MMI Board, the President will work with the CEO & Attorney to assess opportunities for profitable and sustainable business growth, build strong and trusting relationships with Members, the boards and other relevant stakeholders including FSRA, and provide leadership to the organization fostering a dynamic culture of collaboration and dedication to providing excellent customer service. They will develop an organization plan that ensures MMI continues to attract, develop, and retain top talent and will enhance capability with respect to technology, member relations, customer service, policies, processes, organizational structure, and a disciplined best practices platform to support and achieve future growth plans. The President will lead the organization in a responsible and ethical manner consistent with the values and direction established by the MMI Board.

The ideal candidate will have progressive leadership experience in the P&C/specialty insurance and risk management fields with broad operational leadership and exposure to various insurance business functions and systems including underwriting, claims, loss control, profit & loss management, business analysis, finance, and regulatory compliance. They will have strong knowledge of the insurance sector, including provincial regulatory and risk frameworks along with experience reporting to, working with, and/or serving on boards. 

The President of MMI is an operator with a strategic mind. They are an excellent communicator, servant leader, and relationship builder capable of being a trusted advisor to the MMI Board and CEO & Attorney.
