Field Supervisor, South Operations

GrandBridge Energy is recruiting for a qualified Field Supervisor for our South Operations Centre in Brantford.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, schedule, assign and coordinate the activities of employees and contractors engaged in the installation of the overhead and underground distribution system, connecting services, and troubleshooting and repairing equipment failures.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and procedures in all phases of utility operations are carried out including the proper operation and maintenance of vehicles and other assigned equipment.
  • Ensure that crews are conducting quality job plans that identify and address hazards. 
  • Review of project estimates, bids, and proposals; managing contractors, and ensuring staff are properly briefed, equipped, trained.
  • Lead or assist with the facilitation of sub-foreperson and safety meetings.
  • Liaise with control room and customer service for coordination of related planned and unplanned outages. 
  • Provide safety leadership, enforce rules and regulations, conduct work observations and inspections to identify and safeguard hazards, which may or may not be covered by established procedures.
  • Actively seek opportunities to innovate through technology, tools, and process within the Field Operations department.
  • Various aspects of multiple project planning and preparation including scheduling of work in order of priority, material management and/or ordering and customer interaction.
  • Expected to bring in capital projects on time and on budget while maintaining communication with other department stakeholders.
  • Considerable independent judgment is required in making decisions of appreciable difficulty.
  • Lead by example and provide coaching and support to ensure a positive workplace culture that fosters collaboration, growth, and employee well-being.
  • Demonstrates professional conduct and adherence to Corporate Values.
  • Ensure adherence to and effective administration of the Collective Agreement.
  • Completion of Performance Reviews, reviewing Apprentice Logbooks for signoff and ensuring annual incentive objectives completed as identified on time.
  • Provide relief for other Supervisors during their absence at the Brantford location.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of seven years of varied experience as a certified Journeyperson Powerline Technician.
  • Advanced knowledge of distribution systems standards and specifications, line construction and maintenance, standards and specifications, design review and development, and contractor management.
  • Detail oriented and have exceptional problem solving, planning, project management, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and computer skills.
  • Certified Journeyperson Powerline Technician.
  • Red Seal designation is an asset.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid class “DZ” driver’s license, in good standing.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and legislative environment including Standards Manuals, E&USA Rule Book, IHSA Safe Practice Guides, Utility Work Protection Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act as they pertain to the work.
  • Knowledge of health and safety management systems and policies.
