Position Purpose:

Reporting to the Manager, Operational Technology Services is responsible for the optimal function, performance, reliability, availability and security of critical and non-critical Operations applications and associated architecture on a 24-7 basis. The role provides insights to the integrity of data, data systems, and standards across the Operational Technology application suite. This role also provides oversight and reporting of all performance metrics and technology improvements in support of the capital planning program.  

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Oversees the day-to-day operation and stability of all corporate Operations Technology (OT) applications
• Administers and oversees the troubleshooting of all OT applications, including reporting on incidents, problem management, release management, implementation to correct production issues
• Oversees and stewards all report generation and configuration management database in support of Change Management process and principles
• Designs and configures all OT Applications as needed to meet business and industry demand
• Coordinates and oversees patching programs for all OT Applications, in collaboration with Security and Network support teams
• Oversees all application upgrades, including testing and business planning, to production environment
• Oversees all product enhancements and system change implementations, working closely with the business to achieve expected  outcomes
• Responsible for providing application outage triage collaborating with internal and external resources with sense of urgency to resolve all production issues
• Manages all vendors and service providers’ coordinating all application enhancements, features, and releases
• Receives support calls by phone, email – single point of contact for all OT Application and communication issues on a 7X24 basis
• Collaborates with network, security, and operations team in the design of operational communication systems
• Oversees the timely and accurate customer feedback to all reported issues
• Oversees the OT Applications documentation standards, procedures, and processes
• Provides onsite local support to distributed offices
• Oversees the integrity of OT Application data managing all backup and restoration process
• Participates as a subject matter expert in all disaster recovery testing and industry exercise
• Provides subject matter support to all Information Technology teams
• Accountable for adhering to Alectra corporate policies and procedures
• Other duties as required.
• Active Directory Administration for Workstations/Servers/Network Hardware

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

Education & Specialized Knowledge

• Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent knowledge and experience
• SCADA - Detailed knowledge of real time operating systems. Experience installing and configuring SCADA server and SCADA client software.  Previous support of SCADA end users with application specific issues.  Experience testing patches and system updates.
• Detailed knowledge of communication protocols used in the operations environment (Modbus, DNP3, ICCP). Able to use various protocol analyzers (Scanmon, ASE, Wireshark) to investigate communication issues.
• Advanced Knowledge in Microsoft Suite of desktop products and operating systems
• Working knowledge of PC’s, communications networks, and peripherals
• Able to manipulate Command Line Interfaces

Experience

• 5 years + hands-on experience with Operations Applications

• Demonstrated ability and passion as a subject matter expert in Operations Applications and communication systems outside of current specialization
• Industry awareness of the utility business operation, business requirements and regulations
• Strong project management skills, understanding of project management methodologies and software/hardware development cycle
