What You Will do:


The Manager Infrastructure and Field Operations oversees the quality, maintenance, and expansion of the NetOptiks fibre optic infrastructure to ensure seamless, high-quality service and a continually expanding service area. Works collaboratively with sales team, network technical support (in house and contracted) and leadership to develop and execute expansion plans.

Major Responsibilities:

• Develops strategic plan for the NetOptiks business unit; understanding available resources and infrastructure limitations and current/expected cash flows to safely target network expansion.
• Stays current on all available technologies for fibre and other network services, continually seeking to maintain an advanced network.
• Reporting to the COO; develops the annual and mid-term future plans for the NetOptiks business unit forecasting costs/projects and resources required. Identifies business risks and develops mitigation strategies.
• Reviews workload and delegates to Network and GIS Technician or utilizes outside contractor resources as required.
• Ensures agreements with external resources are up to date and service level agreements are in place.
• Manages performance of staff; and ensure adequate staffing/resource levels are in place for current operations; forecasts need for future operations (either staff expansion, or additional resources)
• Based upon network capacity and understanding, supports the development of pricing/service models for sales team.
• Manages network documentation and infrastructure plans, including service maps, asset maps/inventory, data centres/micro-pops, locates and Ontario One-Call reporting. 
• Plans for expansion, ensuring infrastructure can be placed, and contracts the required resources to execute on growth projects.
• Maintains awareness of construction projects or other situations which may impact service and seeks to proactively inform customers of interruptions / mitigate the interruptions.
• Regularly tests network to ensure quality (speed and uptime), triaging any concerns.
• Notifies COO/sales team in the event of any emergent event causing downtime or network quality issues to enable client response.
• Acts as an on-call resource in emergent situations to trouble shoot network issues. On-Call Rotation to Managed by Outside Plant Operations.
• Develops expansion options for the network and assesses those options in collaboration with sales team to determine priority growth areas. Invoice review, validation, and processing.

What You Will Bring:

• Post secondary education, financial acumen, and reporting experience.
• 7+ years experience within network management/telecommunications
• Demonstrated understanding of fibre networks, their operation, current technology and best practices in network infrastructure.
• Understanding of risk management and decision-making models to make informed and calculated business risks.
• Able to develop annual business plans for maintenance of operations as well as forecast and manage resources for additional projects (i.e., expansion)
• Understanding of Ontario’s regulated and non-regulated utility/energy sector and information privacy legislation.
• Understanding of the Ontario One-Call System and locates.
• Experience in the telecommunications sector; with an understanding of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), their regulations and available programs/support for service providers.
