Reporting to the Controller, this role offers an excellent opportunity for career development. You will be responsible for learning the business, providing accurate reporting, and collaborating closely with fellow accounting professionals and the Operations Team to ensure financial accountability. Responsibilities include:

• Provide timely, relevant, and accurate reporting & analysis of the results of the division’s performance.
• Responsible for the day-to-day general ledger accounting as per IFRS.
• Responsible for Bank and Cash reconciliations.
• Responsible for the overview of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
• Perform Journal entries and monthly balance sheet analysis.
• Complete month-end accruals.
• Complete and submit HST Remittances.
• Complete Regulatory reporting on financial and operating data.
• Analyze data to ensure proper accounting procedures have been followed.
• Investigate and report any inconsistencies or improprieties to the Controller.
• Responsible for Inventory reconciliation.
• Be the first point of contact for issues and questions.
• Demonstrate appropriate understanding/working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls and apply them.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Completion or pursuit of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (Canada) is required.
• A bachelor’s degree in commerce, economics, accounting, or finance is required.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a related field.
• Thorough understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting principles.
• Must have experience with accounting software – experience with NetSuite and GreatPlains is an asset.
• Must have extremely strong MS Office skills - primarily Excel.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to exercise prudent judgment, make decisions, and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Knowledge of procedural controls and data validation techniques is required.
• Strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude.
• Strong independent worker and analytical thinker with the ability to conduct research, data analysis, and resolve complex problems.
• Financial modeling expertise is considered an asset.
