What You Will do:

  • Prepare, review, and approve plans, drawings, specifications, and standards for electrical distribution construction work in accordance with the applicable industry standards.
  • Prepare plans, drawings, and engineering standards using AutoCAD software.
  • Complete engineering analysis of the electrical distribution system using PLS-CADD, SPIDACalc, DESS, CYME, and Synergi Electric Engineering Software.
  • Review and provide comments on design drawings from Design Technicians/Technologists.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing material and/or technical specifications and standards.
  • Evaluate and review proposals from suppliers, contractors, and consultants for technical merit and compliance.
  • Investigate and assess the application of new technologies.
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of GrandBridge Energy’s asset management program.
  • Prepare and maintain 5-year, 10-year, and 20-year Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) reports based on asset management data.
  • Assist in developing, documenting, and improving work processes.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and recommend changes and improvements to ensure efficient and effective completion of work.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide input in preparing annual budgets and underground/overhead capital investment strategies.
  • Assist in developing forecasting models, cost-benefit analyses, and budget-versus-actual variance reports.
  • Prepare engineering reports and studies.
  • Perform analysis, testing, and evaluations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical specifications, cost estimates using Quadra software, and the tendering/procurement of materials, consulting services, software, and construction.
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario Regulation 22/04 and the applicable Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) guidelines.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario with good standing is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field within the utility industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Regulation 22/04, ESA Guidelines & Distributor Bulletins, pertinent industry standards such as CSA, USF, and OESC.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering principles, with the ability to conduct power flow calculations, fault studies, and protection coordination studies.
  • Experienced in preparing material specifications and approve new materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD. Experience with ESRI GIS is considered an asset.
  • Intermediate knowledge of System Planning and Asset Management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, strategic thinker with strong organizational skills.
  • A self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative leadership style.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple stakeholder groups and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
