Reporting to the Supervisor, Engineering Services as a key contributor in the Grid Modernization department, you will contribute to a diverse range of initiatives, including distribution infrastructure projects, electrification, innovation, and grid modernization efforts. Below are the detailed responsibilities for this pivotal position.

What You Will do:

  • Design and estimating of overhead and underground distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
  • Preparation and issuing of work orders, detailed estimates, and material lists in QUADRA estimating tool.
  • Preparation and updating of distribution standards and specifications.
  • Preparation and evaluation of tenders.
  • Complete engineering analysis of the electrical distribution system using AutoCAD, PLS-CADD and Or SPIDACalc Engineering Software.
  • Cover duties of Engineering Technician and Underground Inspector during periods of vacation or peak activity.
  • Preparation and completion of various reports as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with required legislative standards – building codes, ESA, CSA, OEB, easements, bylaws, etc.
  • Ensuring internal data base such as project tracker changes are updated on a timely basis.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of all documentation prior to completion and submission of all work.
  • Assist with residential and commercial service layout requests.
  • Coordinate with third party consultants to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture by fostering collaboration, maintaining a  positive attitude, supporting our customers, and contributing to a respectful and inclusive environment.

What You Will Bring:

  • Post-Secondary diploma as an Engineering Technologist.
  • Eligible to obtain C. Tech. or C.E.T. designation within 6 months of employment date.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum three years’ experience with an electrical utility, sound knowledge of electrical distribution systems, street light design and distribution standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Additional requirements include excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of staff and management
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and adapt to change. Applicants must have proven time management skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects within tight timelines.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple stakeholder groups and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
