What You Will Do:

The Senior Analyst, Material Planner plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and efficient availability of materials necessary to support utility operations, maintenance, and capital projects. This position is responsible for forecasting material needs, managing inventory levels, and coordinating procurement and logistics to avoid delays and minimize costs. By aligning material planning with operational goals, the role directly supports service reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across the organization.

Material Planning and Forecasting:

  • Develop and maintain short and long-term material forecasts to support capital projects, maintenance schedules, and emergency readiness.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning meetings as a material planning SME and input into annual business plans and budgets.
  • Coordinate regular material planning and strategy sessions with operations, engineering, and supply chain for material readiness for emergency preparedness.
  • Provide input into equipment material specifications and approval processes and analyze inventory utilization.

Inventory and Operations:

  • Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock is maintained, balancing cost, availability, and shelf-life requirements.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize ERP generated inventory replenishment.
  • Support efforts to resolve delivery issues, expedite urgent orders, and track material in transit.
  • Lead procurement, warehouse, engineering, project management, and operations teams to ensure materials meet specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  • Provide master data management, system application support, and data validation.

Problem Solving and Reporting:

  • Lead or support root cause analysis for material shortages or delays and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide data-driven reports and dashboards on inventory performance, material usage trends, and key supply chain KPIs to realize cost savings and operational efficiencies.

Governance and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements related to material handling and procurement.

Continuous Improvement and Strategic Contribution:

  • Identify and implement process improvements and strategic initiatives that enhance team efficiency, support scaling operations, and contribute to the evolving scope of the role, positioning it as a key driver of departmental and organizational growth.
  • Assist in department projects and key initiatives to ensure quality and timely completion within budget.

What You Will Bring:

  • Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
  • NISCL-MPICS, APICS or equivalent certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, or supply chain operations, preferably in a utility or construction environment.
  • Specific technical or soft skills required to support the Key Responsibilities
  • Proficient in ERP systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and Quadra considered an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to coordinate cross functional tasks and teams
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of procurement, logistics, and warehouse operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Familiar with relevant legislation, codes, and regulations.
  • Must hold a valid class G driver’s license.
