Customer Service Cashier

Job Rate: $22.13 - $31.61 – 37.5 hrs/week

Orangeville Hydro Limited (“OHL”) is a local distribution company that is responsible for distributing electricity to approximately 13,000 homes and businesses within the Town of Orangeville and the Town of Grand Valley. Orangeville Hydro has an opening for the position of Customer Service Cashier.

Reporting to the Manager of Customer Service, this front-line administrative role is responsible for processing customer payments, managing account transactions, and providing high-quality customer support. Key duties include daily financial balancing, responding to billing inquiries, and assisting customers both in person and by phone.

Key Responsibilities Primary Duties 

  • Receive, process, and accurately post customer payments (cash, cheque, debit, credit).
  • Assist customers with billing questions, payment concerns, and account history
  • Analyze and help customers understand changes in electricity and/or water
  • Complete daily cash balancing and
  • Serve as the first point of contact for phone calls, emails, and front-counter
  • Maintain and update customer account records, including landlord agreements, address changes, and payment arrangements.
  • Monitor and respond to messages sent to the general information email
  • Support administrative processes for service applications, disconnections, and customer information 

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry, scanning, filing, and mail
  • Assist Customer Service Representatives and other staff as
  • Prepare the meeting room for meetings or
  • Provide administrative assistance to the President and management
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree in business or a related field, or equivalent
  • Previous customer service
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to handle difficult customer interactions
  • Experience in handling
  • Ability to operate standard office
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment with frequent
