DIRECTIONAL DRILLER

 

Since the year 2000, businesses have trusted us to provide reliable and independent hydro excavation and industrial cleaning services. Over the years we’ve expanded to offer our customers more by adding services including dredging and dewatering, directional drilling, and core drilling alongside our existing services. 

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Directional Driller will be responsible for all phases of any directional drilling jobs by planning, execution, and management in order to meet or exceed client expectations. Driller must be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment and have strong troubleshooting/problem-solving skills to excel in the position. The driller will be operating a Vermeer 2330 or 2022 paired with either a Digitrak Falcon F5 or F5+ locator.

Hourly Rate: $38.00 to $45.00 per our Collective Agreement with Local 183 Union

Location: This in-person role is located in Port Perry, Ontario 

As the successful applicant, you will have the opportunity to be involved with:

  • Adhering to all Brass Inc. internal policies and procedures;
  • Follow site-specific rules, safety standards, and operational guidelines;
  • Perform pre-trip and walk-around safety inspections to ensure equipment readiness;
  • Operate equipment safely and independently across all functions;
  • Provide technical support to clients and crew members as required;
  • Apply proper directional drilling techniques and surveying methods;
  • Coordinate equipment actions with crew activities, including load movement or positioning, using hand and audio signals with team members;
  • Train, coach, and mentor less experienced directional drillers;
  • Collaborate as part of a team, and support colleagues as required;
  • Interpret site stakes, markings, and signage accurately;
  • Complete and submit all reporting requirements;
  • Work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Perform duties in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions, including but not limited to extreme temperatures or weather events (rain, sleet, snow, wind, and/or wet and humid conditions);
  • Maintain productivity under pressure with a commitment to meet timelines and deadlines;
  • Complete all client and site-specific training requirements;
  • Flexibility to be dispatched through Local 183 in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. 

WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER

  • Graduate from a Resource Drilling Program considered an asset
  • AZ license preferred, minimum ARZ license.
  • Comfortable driving manual transmissions
  • Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art drilling and surveying technologies and practices
  • Proficient at reading blueprints and/or technical drawings
  • Physically fit and capable of safely lifting 23 kg (50 lbs.)
  • Experience drilling around utilities.
  • Experience in utility construction – specifically hydro an asset
