Oshawa Power maintains 1000 km of overhead and underground distribution lines within a 150 km2 service territory, operated at 44 and 13.8 kV, supplied by 9 distribution and 3 transmission substations. ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Manager Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible supporting the reporting and variance analysis, and assist in strategic business panning and forecasting to drive strong financial performance and continuous improvement.

This existing position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $91,970 to $137,955. Final compensation and position title will be based on experience, skills, and overall fit for the role. AS THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE INVOLVED WITH:

  • Lead and support the day-to-day analysis and reporting functions, promoting career development and training plans, setting annual performance targets, and providing regular performance feedback and coaching;
  • Prepare annual consolidated budget, variance analysis, and forecasts ensuring departmental engagement, input and analysis;
  • Engage with department managers and executives to regularly review financial results to obtain input on variance analysis, forecasting and departmental planning;
  • Supervise the internal reporting process for departments ensuring stakeholders are informed of their monthly results and are held accountable for their financial results relative to budgets and forecasts;
  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements for all OPUC entities including the quarterly financial reporting package for the Board and Finance and Audit Committee;
  • Prepare and present certain affiliate level financial reports and updates to respective Boards;
  • Responsible for monthly/quarterly/annual reporting to Shareholder, Bank, and other Financial Institutions;
  • Support additional analysis including but not limited to cash flow forecasting, business and investment evaluations;
  • Assist with financial modelling for scenario planning, business planning and ad-hoc investment opportunities;
  • Support management reporting through data visualization and automated reporting solutions;
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, and analytical processes;
  • Support monitoring of compliance with company policies and procedures;
  • Support and produce IFRS audited financial statements for the Group of Companies including overall consolidated financials statements;
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field;
  • 5 + years of progressive financial experience, focused on financial accounting, planning and reporting;
  • A professional CPA accounting designation (CGA, CMA, or CA);
  • Strong leadership aptitude; superior interpersonal and communication skills; excellent listener and motivator;
  • Experience in a mid-level financial role utilizing computerized financial and reporting systems;
  • Strong computer & systems aptitude, including Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Strong financial modeling experience for assessing investment opportunities;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and across various business units within the organization, proactively identify and respond to needs and inquiries, and collaborate with cross-functional teams;
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to maintain professional and effective working relationships;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Attention to detail and excellent analytical, reasoning, and time management skills;
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, respect in the workplace, and continued improvement of processes and procedures;
  • Knowledge of the regulated Ontario electricity market, including retail electricity contracts and distribution regulations an asset.
