Distribution Coordinator

Nestled in the heart of the Okanagan Valley, Summerland is an idyllic community of approximately 12,600 residents. With beautiful beaches, scenic biking and hiking trails, mountains, vineyards, and a welcoming small-town atmosphere, Summerland offers an exceptional quality of life and a great place to build your career.

The District of Summerland has an exciting opportunity for a Distribution Coordinator to join our Electrical Utility team. Reporting to the Director of Utilities and working under the direction of the Foreman, you will coordinate the planning and execution of overhead and underground electrical distribution work while supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of one of British Columbia's five municipally owned electrical utilities.

The utility serves approximately 6,200 residential, commercial, and industrial customers through two 8 KV substations with a peak system load of approximately 25 MVA. Our team is responsible for the operation, maintenance, expansion, and customer service functions of the electrical distribution system.

This newly created position plays an integral role in coordinating electrical distribution projects, supporting field operations, and ensuring utility standards are met. Working closely with line crews, contractors, consultants, and internal departments, you will help deliver construction projects, oversee service request construction, support asset management initiatives, and contribute to the continued reliability and growth of our electrical system.

We're seeking a safety-focused, collaborative professional with experience in electrical distribution systems, project coordination, and utility operations. The successful candidate will possess a Journeyman Powerline Technician, Construction or Industrial Electrician Red Seal, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma, along with a valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence. Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and computer skills are essential. A Field Safety Representative (FSR) Class A or Class A-R designation is considered an asset.

Please visit our website at www.summerland.ca/jobs for the complete list of roles and responsibilities. This is a permanent full-time IBEW position offering an hourly wage of $58.43 and an exceptional benefits package including municipal pension plan.
