MANAGER, DISTRIBUTION SERVICES

CONTRACT 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a work force of outside field representatives and contractors that are responsible for underground cable locates, customer service layouts and distribution automation projects as assigned by the Acting Vice President, Operations. Manage a customer service group that is responsible for various activities that include scheduling locates, service layouts, customer-owned substation isolations and coordinating of the connections of new residential and general service accounts.
  • Manage the process of connecting distributed generation to the Veridian distribution system, including interfacing with the generation customer on connection requirements, administering the connection approval requirements within Veridian, administering the connection agreement and other legal documents associated with the connection, and performing the commissioning and acceptance review prior to the generation being connected to the Veridian distribution system.
  • Be fully versed in the relevant service and connection related aspects of the Conditions of Service and develop, maintain, and administer business processes to implement them.
  • Supervise and monitor staff directly assigned and the systems, tools, vehicles and work equipment required and available, to achieve the desired goals.
  • Be an integral part of the responsibility chain for the safety, quality and quantity of any work undertaken.
  • Oversee and administer the company’s policies, procedures, administrative resources, common tools and equipment, and processes and systems related to the delivery of all customer connection requirements for residential and small general services, municipal street lights, and the establishment, maintenance, and meeting of customer related service response criteria such as emergency repairs, cable locates, etc., and ensure the coordination of the company’s activities in this regard. 
  • Liaise with the Acting Vice President, Operations in policy implementation and review and make recommendations where appropriate. Authorize as to correctness and validity the application of all-labour hours, vehicle hours, contract allowances, minor expenses, stores material issues and returns and material scrapping relating to residential, small general service and street light connections. Report routinely and as required on the progress, performance, and variances of all work assigned. Develop and apply monitoring and review systems to assess work progress, effectiveness and to consider alterations to processes and techniques to improve on these areas.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for the Distribution Services group functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6 to 7 years related experience.
  • University Degree or additional 5 years related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, etc.).
