Systems Analyst

Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Inc. is a local distribution company that is responsible for distributing electricity safely and reliably to approximately 95,000 homes and businesses within the City of Kitchener and Township of Wilmot. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

As one of our Information Technology Systems Development professionals, you will:

• Participate in activities related to design and development of applications and technologies supporting business requirements and strategic corporate objectives.
• Collaborate with internal users to develop and document business requirements, objectives, deliverables and system specifications.
• Assist in defining software integration and development plans, project scope and schedules.
• Participate in application integration testing, problem determination and remediation.
• Assist with identification of opportunities to enhance or improve business processes, or minimize the impact of application and/or system integration issues on those processes.
• Responsibility for the performance, integrity and security of a database. You'll be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.
• Code software applications and/or integration programs according to documented specifications and prepare system and program documentation, operating instructions, user manuals, and training materials as required.
• Ensure compliance of computer system applications with various Ontario Energy Board and government regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• A two or three year diploma or degree from a recognized college or university and 2 to 5 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Developer certifications would be considered an asset.
• Technically fluent in development environments such as Visual Studio, SQL, Java, JS, Cobol, shell script (ksh) 
• Design and testing of databases using Oracle Software and knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with the following technologies: Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, IBM AIX, MS SQL Server, Oracle, redhat Linux, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, Web Services
• Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Outage Management Systems (OMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Customer Information Systems (CIS) would be a definite asset.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as a member of a multidisciplinary project team.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet demanding implementation schedules.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.
• Demonstrated leadership potential with a commitment to teamwork principles.
• Familiarity with Ontario’s electricity industry and the various system requirements imposed by government regulation would be a definite asset.
