Inventory and Purchasing Stockperson – 1 year Contract

Whitby Hydro is seeking a highly organized, motivated, and self-directed individual to fill the position of Inventory & Purchasing Stockperson. This individual will play a key role in the Operations Purchasing and Inventory Management process. This role will have a high degree of communication and coordination with internal and external customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and receive purchase requisitions, research goods & services; quality, specifications, price, availability, delivery, freight.
  • Ensure Procurement to Payment and approval processes are followed and high quality purchase transactions are executed as per Whitby Hydro procedures
  • Facilitate accurate and effective communications between purchase requestor and vendor, to ensure expectations and requirements are fulfilled.
  • Maintain purchase orders and purchasing related information in a current & updated status.
  • Establish & maintain dedicated areas with proper conditions for all parts to be stored.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage daily work activities within the warehouse and yard to expedite workflow, including receiving, picking, restocking, and inventory control.
  • Ensure all spare parts are traceable and stocking levels are established, reviewed and revised as necessary for all parts in inventory.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
  • Perform general building maintenance functions. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven track record of safe work and safety leadership.
  • Previous experience and/or training in supply management.
  • Warehouse experience.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel) and internet use capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems functions.
  • Knowledge of best practices with respect to inventory handling and organization policy & procedures.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Be results oriented, focused, driven to achieve targets, and possess a high degree of urgency.
  • Maybe required to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Thorough knowledge of Fork Lift operations.
  • Valid driver’s license and fork lift license.
  • High school diploma – College degree preferred.
  • Positive outlook and good sense of humor.
