 JOB POSTING - MILLWRIGHT  

 

Orillia Power Generation Corporation requires a highly motivated results-oriented individual that will participate in the on-site work in the maintenance department.   This is a unionized position and reports to the Supervisor of Generation.  The successful candidate should possess the following:

 

Qualifications Required:  

  • Must hold a Millwright trade certification and have a minimum of 5 years Millwright experience
  • Must hold a G or better drivers license and maintain clean driver’s abstract at all times
  • Demonstrated machining, welding and fabrication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems
  • Experience with water turbines and hydro power is an asset
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to Orillia Power’s safety culture, including the safety of coworkers, contractors, customers and general public
  • Detail oriented person, strong communicator, excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
  • Demonstrates leadership, teamwork, sound business ethics with a professional aptitude and positive attitude, ability to take responsibility, initiative and multitask
  • Excellent delegation, problem solving, organizational and project planning/management skills
  • Proven ability to productively manage work projects in a timely and safe manner (i.e. work protection, PPE) and effectively work in compliance with E&USA rules, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Orillia Power policies and procedures and all relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of various computer programs is an asset, i.e. Word, Excel and SCADA

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all required safety measures are employed for all employees and contractors in all work situations
  • Ability to read drawings and effectively ensure accuracy of components for machining
  • Demonstrate a good safety example through attitude and actions
  • Establish and maintain a positive, cooperative and enthusiastic work atmosphere
  • Maintain accurate and complete record management for all maintenance work and site activities
  • Coordinate and assist in arrangements for equipment maintenance and scheduling with the Supervisor of    Generation
  • Produce equipment condition, overhaul and failure reports
  • Establish trust and credibility in working relationships through open, honest, consistent and frequent dialogue
  • Ensure quality work is carried out by the crew and/or contractors while maintaining budgetary constraints
  • Establish & maintain effective relationships with internal & external customers & suppliers
  • Purchase parts for ongoing repairs and preventative maintenance in accordance with Orillia Power’s purchasing policy
  • Maintain an organized inventory of necessary spare parts
  • Modify or create drawings as required.  Ensure all drawings, information, company supplied tools & work equipment is available, properly used and stored
  • Stay current on new industry, company, product and technical information
  • Perform other duties as required
