About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic individual with exceptional customer service and technical skills. Working in a non-routine and very complex environment, the Engineering Technologist – Asset Management is responsible for the planning, coordination and integration of substation and SCADA infrastructure, including related engineering studies and SCADA analysis. 

Duties include:

  • Assist with asset management programs including planning, monitoring and the reporting of progress
  • Plan and coordinate with Operations to ensure maintenance programs are on track
  • Review and assist with assessments and testing of assets to monitor age, condition & maintenance cost and identify and initiate in-year replacements where necessary
  • Identify & initiate upcoming capital replacement programs based on age, condition and/or cost
  • Utilize continuous improvement principles and apply them to the maintenance strategy
  • Investigate and develop of materials specifications and new technologies
  • Assist in the preparation of capital budget proposals including prioritizing projects based on risk & value 

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completion of a 3 year Electrical or Civil Engineering Technology program at a recognized post-secondary institution with a degree/diploma
  • Registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. or a professional engineer with P.Eng. (or be eligible for registration)
  • 5 years relevant experience in overhead and underground distribution system design, planning, operations and maintenance
  • High level of technical competence in design work and project management
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of electrical theory, and familiarity with power system operations, practices and installation standards
  • Advanced skill using Microsoft office programs and related computer software applications
  • Experience in safety as it relates to design and job planning
  • Strong focus on detail and accuracy
  • Lead projects and initiatives that move the asset management objectives forward
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that builds relationships with both internal and external clients
  • Be a highly engaged motivated team player
  • Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence with an excellent driving record
