Business Analyst

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing business process documentation and creating business requirements for clients. Working alongside our consultants, they will travel to client locations throughout North America. The Business Analyst (BA) role requires an advanced technical skill set. Reporting to the Lead Consultant, the Business Analyst Consultant is responsible for supporting our clients with day to day analysis, reviewing reports and ensuring data is synchronized properly across the AMI system (Advanced Meter Infrastructure), the MDM system (Meter Data Management), the CIS (Customer Information System) and other Operational systems as appropriate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily exception management using AMI, MDM, CIS, and other business applications
  • Troubleshoot problems related to AMI business processes to determine possible solutions, presenting options to the business which will determine new policies and procedures
  • Identify requirements and gather data from utility customers
  • Analyse data and identify use cases that translate into business benefits
  • Develop accurate, compelling and credible business process documentation
  • Work collaboratively with consultants
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the day-to-day operations of utilities and maintain industry knowledge through educational opportunities and self-directed learning
  • Ensure quality results by developing and using templates and following company standards

Skills/Qualifications

  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.)
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Strong SQL knowledge
  • Ability to distill large amounts of data into a simple format
  • Ability to think logically
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Superb communications and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding time and task management skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Self motivated team player with strong work ethic; and
  • A strong commitment to customer and corporate objectives
  • Ability to travel to client sites throughout Canada and the U.S is a must. (A vehicle is necessary for local Ontario travel; a valid passport is required for international travel.) Applicants will be expected to travel approximately 30 weeks per year.
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • University Degree
    • Utility industry experience
