Utility Arborist

UTILITY ARBORIST

17 Trees is a fast growing company that was established by a group of Electrical Distributors in Ontario to service the Algoma, Sudbury and North Bay regions in ensuring utility line clearance and reliable electricity. 

We are looking for experienced Utility Arborists to join our team. Reporting to the General Manager, the Utility Arborist will be responsible to: 

• Safely plan utility arboricultural work, including the identification of hazards, assessment of appropriate barriers, and creation of effective traffic plans.
• Perform utility arboricultural work including tree trimming, tree removals and tree felling.
• Safely operate equipment used in utility arboricultural work (chainsaws, brush saws, brush chippers, hydraulic pruners, hand pruners, hand saws, aerial devices, etc).
• Climb trees and work at various heights including operating near energized conductors.
• Understand and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and standards.
• Mentor and train apprentices.
• Communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders and property owners. 

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years experience conducting utility line clearance work is preferred
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline would be an asset
• OCOT Qualified Utility Arborist.
• DZ License.
• Demonstrated strong safety mentality.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
