POWER LINE SUPERVISOR

An exciting and challenging opportunity is available for a results-oriented individual to be part of a customer-focused energy distribution corporation serving over 24,500 customers in fifteen communities within Grey, Bruce Huron and Wellington counties. Westario Power’s headquarters are located in the Town of Walkerton. 

This management position reports directly to the Line Superintendent and is responsible for the co-ordination and direction of Power Line Maintainers in the construction, maintenance and operation of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. 

To be considered, candidates must possess as a minimum:

  • MEA (EDA) Journeyman Power Lineperson Certification with five to ten years related experience
  • Red Seal as asset
  • Valid Class “DZ” drivers license with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to develop and implement plans and budgets and allocate resources
  • Experience in use of MS Office products, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Windows operating system
  • Knowledge of the Electrical Safety Authority Regulation 22/04 and E&USA rule book, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Utility Work Protection Code, WHMIS, CPR, First Aid and all other applicable legislation. 

In addition, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to:

  • Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, creativity, and enthusiasm in achieving results directly and through staff work teams
  • Plan work programs with support personnel to achieve objectives, considering availability of staff, equipment, material and the need for safety, quality and economy
  • Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally, electronically (e-mail), and in writing
  • Recruit, develop, and motivate top-calibre employees, delegate responsibility effectively and evaluate performance
  • Execute excellent analytical and trouble shooting skills
  • Achieve a safe, efficient, timely and cost effective supply of reliable electrical energy to customers.
  • Monitor system elements and make proposals for cost effective system upgrades and expansions that employ current robust technologies that maximize the goals of the Corporation.
