Customer Service Representative – CASH AND BILLING 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The incumbent will take the lead on answering customer phone and email inquiries, resolving customer issues, and keeping customer accounts up to date within the NorthStar CIS. The incumbent will also be responsible for cashier functions and will use their analytical abilities to assist with the billing process. Excellent time management and organizational skills are required to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly tasks are completed in a timely manner and without error, ensuring a smooth billing and collections process. Strong communication skills and a professional manner will be used while working closely with customers and co-workers. The incumbent will ensure OEB and privacy mandates are followed in all aspects of the job. 

PRIMARY ACTIVITIES:

  • Lead on answering customer phone and email inquiries
  • Process customer inquiries/requests/complaints & resolve issues
  • Process mail, cash, EFT’s, drop box items and bank deposits
  • Process electronic payments and NSF returns
  • Prepare and transmit pre-authorized files to the bank
  • Run customer credit report for A/P processing
  • Assist with bank reconciliation
  • Process service applications and follow up on overdue applications
  • Update customer/landlord info in CIS
  • Monitor move in/move outs for billing
  • Answer lawyer's letters in response to property sales
  • Monitor equal payment plan credit/deficit balances quarterly, reconcile yearly
  • Learn the billing system and its connectivity to the MDMR
  • Work closely with Billing Team to analyse billing data and complete monthly billing processes
  • Process the EBT’s for Retailer billing
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative duties as required

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Graduation from an accredited post-secondary institution with a diploma or degree is required. A degree or diploma in a business program is an asset.
  • 3 to 5 years related experience is required.
  • Excellent computer skills with a proven ability to learn and utilize new software programs
  • Excellent communication skills and professional manner
  • Excellent time management/organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to problem solve and deal with difficult customers
  • Ability to analyse data for accuracy and discrepancies
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • High level of competency in personal computer usage
  • Experience with NorthStar Harris CIS system an asset
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
