Collus PowerStream Corp currently has a vacancy for two (2) Powerline Technician Journeypersons. Second or Third Year Apprentices will be considered. Collus PowerStream Corp maintains and distributes electrical power to 16,000 customers in Collingwood, Creemore, Stayner and Thornbury. The successful candidates will report to the Operations Supervisor and work under the direction of the Hydro Lead-Hands. You will work in a line crew in the construction and maintenance of the overhead and underground distribution systems (up to and including 44kV).
The successful applicant will be required to perform on-call duty and be available for emergency call-outs and have the ability to reach Collus PowerStream’s Service Centre, 43 Stewart Road, Collingwood within 25 minutes.
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
~ Certification as a Powerline Technician Journeyperson licensed to work in Ontario
~ Candidates who have completed their 2nd year or above of the Linesperson Apprenticeship Program will be considered.
~ Valid class DZ Ontario Driver’s Licence and a clean abstract
~ Secondary School Graduation Diploma – Minimum of Grade 12
~ Competent in the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the electrical distribution system
~ Ability to read and interpret distribution system construction drawings and supporting documents.
~ Must have a good safety record and have demonstrated safe working habits and mechanical aptitude
~ Must have a high regard for personal and public safety
~ Knowledgeable and competent of E&USA Safety Rules, Occupational Health & Safety Act, ESA Ontario Reg. 22/04, Utility Work Protection Code, WHMIS, CPR, First Aid and all other applicable legislation
~ Proven ability to work effectively and safely in a team setting and follow instructions by peers
~ Must have good communication skills both orally and written, including ability to maintain good logs and other records
~ Good knowledge of computer applications
~ Good interpersonal skills especially dealing with customers
~ Must be physically able to perform all tasks associated with work in all outdoor elements
